» Michael Jackson, 1958-2009 - My first musical memory was the "Black or White" video. I asked my dad, "Why is that woman named Michael?" Now that The King of Pop is gone, taking a look back at whatever Monster or Magic he was, it is more clear than ever that everything about him was always misunderstood.

» A Hawk And A Hacksaw - Jeremy Barnes and Heather Trost are testament to the fact that, for all of our world's shrinking and flattening in the digital age, place still matters. Originating in Jeremy Barnes' native Albuquerque, the group is the antithesis of today's shifting cultural and musical realities, having relocated to Budapest for the recording of their new album, Délivrance.

» Missed the Boat #1 - In a time when more albums than ever are being made and fewer publications can afford to exist, more gatekeepers than ever are needed to separate the wheat from the chaff. Here's this month's batch of unreviewed but worth your time records that may have been overlooked.ADVERTISING CONTACT » Advertising Department.
Advertising is exposure, and exposure generates revenue. It is a tried and true formula. Get your name out there and establish an identity. Lost At Sea online is the perfect vehicle for promoting yourself and your products. All ads should be sent via email or on a CD-ROM to the address below. Since we are not a weekly or monthly publication, we can run ads at any time. Please don't hesitate to contact us for special long-term ad rates, site statistics, or with any questions or comments.
Lost At Sea is a music, media and culture magazine that has been operating since 1998 and is closing in on half a million user sessions per month. A while back an email was sent out from one particular "webzine" boasting of 60,000 users per month and their cheapest ad space was for $125 per month! Do you believe that? Crazy, but true.
After beginning as a monthly publication in 1998, Lost At Sea eventually evolved into a weekly publishing schedule in November of 2000 and in November of 2001 began publishing thrice-weekly. In general, Lost At Sea is updated every Monday, Wednesday and Friday with new content. While web-based publications are generally regarded with less importance than print magazines by the music industry (but, by all means, please visit their website and buy their albums online!), it is no secret that work published online is read tenfold as much as work published in print. The freedom afforded us by the internet allows for a constantly expanding readership without the logistical restraints of distribution and circulation numbers that traditional publications must deal with. Our content is always online (as it has been since 1998) and always accessible - to anyone anywhere at any time.

TECHNICAL DATA
» File size for ads is limited to an absolute maximum of 30K. Yours should be way smaller than that if you want people to see it running, not loading.
» LAS hosts your banner (email it to the advertising department) but you can host it yourself if you'd like. Self hosting waives the 30K size limit above.
» Buy in bulk. It makes sense.
» You can update/change your ad at any time. Simply send us an email with the appropriate information and it will be updated, generally within 24 hours.
» If you're a bonehead with graphics or computers, don't freak out. We can design your ad for you, free of charge.
» We reserve the right to refuse any ad for any reason. Frankly, we've never yet refused an ad, but there's a first time for everything, as the saying goes.
