» The Top 30 Albums of 2010 - Fashionably, fabulously late, our favorite music (and believe me, there was a LOT) of 2010, the year that some have called the best year for music ever. And only some of those fools work here. Plenty of usual suspects, lots of ties and a few surprises that I won't spoil, including our unexpected #1.

» Live: Surfer Blood/The Drums at Lincoln Hall, Chicago, IL - Remember when Weezer used to put together records that you could sing along to and rock out to? That's what Surfer Blood's show was like!

Ladyfest Philly has announced confirmed performers and artists who will participate in the festival showcasing women in the arts to be held from March 20th to March 23rd, 2003 in Philadelphia. Over a year of meetings, fundraising events, and hard work from numerous volunteers have gone into producing the event. Ladyfest Philly was recently awarded a grant from the Bread and Roses Community Fund, a unique partnership of donors and activists committed to supporting social change in the Delaware Valley. Other Ladyfests organized by women around the globe have taken place in San Francisco, DC, London, Belgium, Olympia, WA, Atlanta, Los Angeles, and New York.

All profits raised from Ladyfest Philly will be donated to two local organizations who serve women in Philadelphia and the surrounding communities. Women's Anti-Violence Education (WAVE) teaches practical, supportive and empowering safety and self-defense skills to women, girls and other populations vulnerable to assault such as sexual minorities, people with disabilities and immigrants. The Greater Philadelphia Women's Medical Fund (GPWMF) provides direct financial assistance to low-income women and girls who wish to terminate an unwanted pregnancy but cannot raise enough funds to obtain a safe, legal abortion.

Individual tickets to events will be available at shows on a first come, first serve basis. For more information on ordering tickets via mail or online, go to www.ladyfestphilly.org. Online ticketing services are being donated by the nice folks at www.BuyOlympia.com.

Das Neue Monster by Kate McCabe
A film that is a Frankenstein for identity politics. Upon awakening, a woman must discover who she is, and why. The film is a journey representing how easily self-awareness can be subverted by the question of identity.

The 8 Husbands of Zsa Zsa Gabor
This brisk, playful puppet animation scoffs at the rigid rules of courtship, and salutes one women's shameless sense of romance.

Winged Woman Dance Company was formed in 1999 by Founder and Co-Artistic Director, Tina Bracciale to promote collaboration between dancers, musicians and visual artists. The company has been committed to creating new and innovative movement, while abstracting narrative theses into architectural structures of movement. Tina Bracciale's new piece "Without Flight" focuses on the suspended and gestural phrases of birds.

The Bald Mermaids were founded in early 1998 by Rebecca Sloan, Brenda Kunda, and Datie McNamara. "As a Multi Media collective we are presenting an audience with something fresh and unusual, to show that different types of art can cross boundaries and co-exist. As a trio, we envelop simplicity, tension, and the contradiction of reality…" (Page 3 of 3).
