» Full Dark, No Stars - Stephen King's new novella questions mankind's ability to trust others.

» The Top 30 Albums of 2010 - Fashionably, fabulously late, our favorite music (and believe me, there was a LOT) of 2010, the year that some have called the best year for music ever. And only some of those fools work here. Plenty of usual suspects, lots of ties and a few surprises that I won't spoil, including our unexpected #1.

» Live: Surfer Blood/The Drums at Lincoln Hall, Chicago, IL - Remember when Weezer used to put together records that you could sing along to and rock out to? That's what Surfer Blood's show was like!

"We provide the Sharpie, you provide your best playlist!" That's the motto behind INSOUND MIXTAPE SHIRTS, the latest take on audiophile merchandise from our pals at Insound.

The standard version of the series is available in two themes, "Best Love Songs" and "Best Breakup Songs," and there is a third "Blank Design" that lets you create your own mix on whatever theme makes or breaks your heart. The shirts are of course printed on American Apparel (would any self-respecting hipster be caught dead in anything else?) and feature the graphic work of Andy Dixon, aka The Chemistry Designs. You can rest assured that the graphics are tight and appropriate, considering that Dixon spends all of his time making art and none of it updating his website.

The shirts come in a cool mint green, with a variation on the classic spools of a cassette tape: on Best Love Songs the tape makes a heart, on Best Breakup Songs there's a big yellow mark through it, and the blank design makes no reference to love or dismissal. On the back there are blank spaces for you to "record" the A and B sides of your killer mix, and to give you all the tools you need Insound is throwing in a brand new Sharpie with each shirt for easy personalization.

If you're in the buying mood (those religious gift-giving holidays are just around the corner), LAS readers will want to take advantage of our exclusive affiliate coupon, valid for 10% off your entire Insound order (not just the Mixtape Shirts, but ANYTHING in their extensive catalogue) until December 9th. If you'd only like to pay 90% of your total bill, just insert the code 'scaredturkeys10' during checkout.

Oh, and in keeping with the tradition giving/receiving motif of the year's end, Insound are auctioning off customized shirts from some of their favorite bands. Participating bands include The Hold Steady, No Age, Spoon, Mates of State, Of Montreal, The Kills and more to be announced. Each shirt is hand-signed and outfitted with a list of each band's most killer mix, and they're all being auctioned off to raise money for the nonprofit 826NYC.ORG writing and literacy center in New York.
