» Full Dark, No Stars - Stephen King's new novella questions mankind's ability to trust others.

» The Top 30 Albums of 2010 - Fashionably, fabulously late, our favorite music (and believe me, there was a LOT) of 2010, the year that some have called the best year for music ever. And only some of those fools work here. Plenty of usual suspects, lots of ties and a few surprises that I won't spoil, including our unexpected #1.

» Live: Surfer Blood/The Drums at Lincoln Hall, Chicago, IL - Remember when Weezer used to put together records that you could sing along to and rock out to? That's what Surfer Blood's show was like!

Chris Baronner is a busy fellow. Years ago, when he first passed images and words along to LAS, he was best known for his contribution to the short-lived, dynamics obsessed post-punk band Ethel Meserve, a band that rose out of the generally blank college music climate of State College, Pennsylvania. Later, after the band issued the requisite number of singles, splits, and an album with the also short-lived Chicago label Tree, Baronner found himself busier than he had been while touring with Ethel Meserve; he was booking and organizing shows and performances at the White Lodge, was publishing on a small scale with his May West Press, and tying it all together with the Valley Gallery. As it turned out, the Gallery was also a temporary project, and it wasn't long before Baronner found himself in Chicago, buying talent at the well-known (and long-lived) Cabaret Metro and spinning hot sets around the city as DJ CB. Baronner is currently holding down his day job at the Metro while organizing political dance parties around the city under the name Life During Wartime, with co-conspirator DJ Mother Hubbard. The images below are from a series of photographs taken during 1999 at the White Lodge.
