» Full Dark, No Stars - Stephen King's new novella questions mankind's ability to trust others.

» The Top 30 Albums of 2010 - Fashionably, fabulously late, our favorite music (and believe me, there was a LOT) of 2010, the year that some have called the best year for music ever. And only some of those fools work here. Plenty of usual suspects, lots of ties and a few surprises that I won't spoil, including our unexpected #1.

» Live: Surfer Blood/The Drums at Lincoln Hall, Chicago, IL - Remember when Weezer used to put together records that you could sing along to and rock out to? That's what Surfer Blood's show was like!

July 23, 2009
Having just wrapped the Faesthetic-curated "This Must Be The Place" show (see this for a blurb on that), this weekend the Scion Installation LA Gallery in Culver City, California, opens the 2009 VICE PHOTO SHOW.

This year is the ninth annual collection for the exhibition, which is put together each year along with the annual Photo Issue from Vice Magazine, the Canadian-born and now globally infamous high-gloss publication "best known for documenting youthful excess, questionable street fashion and powerful scenes of political unrest around the world." If you've been anywhere near Brooklyn, London, or Berlin, you've certainly seen a copy--there's usually a fairly staged looking image of someone doing drugs or taking a shit on the sidewalk on the cover.

The 2009 collection exhibition is curated by the magazine's managing editor Amy Kellner and includes works from regular Vice contributors Jamie Lee Curtis Taete and Maggie Lee, as well as former Vice photo editor Tim Barber. As part of the exhibit Barber "is also curating a mini group-show-within-a-group-show of photos."

The exhibit, which will run until August 8th, will have an artists reception from 7-10pm on July 25th at the Scion Installation L.A. Space. Parking for tight pants and beards will be limited, so show up early if you own an iPhone.
